Speech Coding -- a Key Enabling Technology for Voice Over IP Networks (VoIP)

This talk will give a brief overview of VoIP technologies, followed by a more detailed discussion of a key enabling technology -- speech coding -- in the context of VoIP applications.

Dr. Juin-Hwey (Raymond) Chen is the Senior Director of Research at Voxware, Inc., a Princeton area speech technology company. He and his team of research engineers are responsible for creating new voice and audio processing technologies for Voxware. Prior to joining Voxware, he performed speech coding research at AT&T Bell Labs for 8 1/2 years. He received the B.S.E.E. degree from National Taiwan University, and the M.S.E.E.and Ph.D. degrees from the University of California at Santa Barbara. He is a Fellow of the IEEE.
